Nearly as many people ask me how the purity ministry is going as ask me how my retirement is going? Both are going well, thank you. The purity ministry has morphed from being led by me under the umbrella of the National Coalition For Purity to being led by motivated laymen in their churches. Evergreen Church, New Hope, is supplying these lay leaders with the purity supplies they need to launch the ministry. Recently, Grace Evangelical Free Church, Fridley, MN, under the leadership of men’s ministry director, Doug Hanson, and former NCFP board member, Tom Simshauser, led a Friday Night Fight dinner with a focus on sexual purity. Irv was the keynote speaker. Over 60 men attended (nearly double previous Friday Night Fights!) and many prayed with chaplains and planted white flags of surrender to the Lord on purity hill at the foot of the cross. It was powerful!
19 men continued on to Purity Boot Camp the following week as lieutenants Hanson and Simshauser led boot camp each morning from 6:00-7:30 a.m. Out of those 19 men, God raised up two men who stepped forward to be trained as sergeants for the Purity Platoons. Now 12 men are moving on to one of two Purity Platoons: Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at Anoka Covenant Church and Wednesday mornings at 6:00 a.m. at Grace Ev. Free Church.
The purity ministry continues under local churches.
Praise the Lord!
