On our recent trip to London to attend Irv’s niece’s wedding, we spent some time seeing the sights of London. I have always had a great interest in English history. American history is rooted in English history and my family history is as well. It took every ounce of courage I had as I anticipated the six hour flight across the Atlantic Ocean, but it was so worth it. I enjoyed seeing things I had previously only read about and standing in places I had seen in pictures.

One of the places we visited was the Churchill War Rooms. These war rooms are an invaluable part of English history which must be intentionally sought out because they are underground. From these basement rooms, Winston Churchill and his staff planned the ...

The fall is a fabulous time of year! The leaves change colors, the temps are a little cooler and more refreshing, the kiddos go back to school (I think I heard some parents shout, “Amen!”), and we return to our normal schedules. Starting in October, Hopewell Counseling will once again be offering a purity group. This group is for men who desire to become sexually pure, receive a high level of accountability, and develop great friendships with other men. Elsie and I just returned from a wedding in London, England. Yes, we are now jetsetters (ha, that was the first time out of the country for Elsie and the first time in England for me in 50 years)! The experience was excellent and not a little eye-opening. We saw Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, the Tower Bridge, Big Ben, the Tower of London and the crown jewels, Winston Churchill’s War Rooms, and the Royal Observatory (where the prime meridian is calculated and east meets west). It was all fascinating and educational.

The highlight of the trip for both of us? Attending All Souls Church in North London on a Sunday. All Souls Church was made famous by Pastor John Nash, and his successor, John R. W...
