In the month of January, we begin a multi-part series on the End Times. Theologians call this eschatology or “study of last things.” Why do a series on the end times? Here’s the reasoning. Few churches are preaching on it. Few Christian podcasts are speaking about it. Few Christian magazines are publishing articles on it. The podcast, Hope for the Hurting, which my daughter, Laura, and I broadcast, is tackling it but few others. Why not? Why aren’t many Christian voices speaking about the End Times especially in light of all we’ve gone through in 2020. Here are three possible reasons: 1. It requires taking stands on controversial End Times doctrines. Some are faint of heart and shy away from controversy. 2. It requires a fair amount of preparation. 3. As with all apocalyptic literature, it is difficult to understand and interpret. However, for those who wade into the deep waters of eschatology, there is a huge blessing. The book of Revelation in the Bible, the primary source for End Times information, says in Revelation 1:3, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.” God promises to bless those who read the book of Revelation or hear it preached and heed its warnings.

What will be covered in this End Times series? Here are the 16 topics which will be covered:

  • Signs of the Return of Christ
  • The Rapture of the Church
  • The Great Tribulation
  • The Revelation of the Anti-Christ
  • The Tribulation Temple
  • World peace and the Satanic Trinity
  • The Abomination of Desolation
  • The Two Witnesses and the 144,000 Evangelists
  • The Mark of the Beast
  • The Marriage Supper of the Lamb
  • The Judgment Seat of Christ
  • Armageddon
  • The Return of Christ
  • The Millennium
  • The Great White Throne Judgment
  • The New Jerusalem and Eternity Future

Whew! That should cover the landscape of eschatology pretty thoroughly. In a newsletter like HopeLine we can only cover these topics briefly. Whole books have been written about them but, hopefully, what is written in this newsletter will spark your interest in the End Times and cause you to do some digging on your own.

May God be glorified,
