[Editor’s note: This is the final article in a three-part series written by Laura Houle with the approval of Hopewell Counseling. Laura is our daughter and is a passionate patriot for America. She is also a committed believer in Jesus Christ and an unashamed witness for the Gospel.]

The battle belongs to the Lord, and He has already defeated Satan.  He defeated him at Calvary and Satan knows it and has been mad ever since and he’s going out swinging and, from the looks of it, he’s planning to take this country with him.  In my past two articles, I discussed the dire situation in America and around the world and how we, as believers in Christ, have been equipped with everything we need to fight back against the dominion of darkness. In this article I’ll provide you with some very practical ways you can fight back and protect those you love. Many around us are in a fog, a demonic haze has settled over them. They either can’t see what we see through our spiritual glasses or they see it and are paralyzed by fear and unable to move.

That’s where we come in. One of my absolute favorite verses is II Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (NKJV)  We are not victims! We are victorious warriors and blood-bought children of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  It’s time to start living like it. So, put on the Helmet of Salvation, the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Shoes of Peace, the Shield of Faith and grab your only offensive weapon in this battle, the Sword of the Spirit (which is the Word of God) and let’s take a courageous stand for righteousness and work together to push back the darkness!

All of us can do something. Some of us have more time than others.  Some are more extroverted than others, but every single one of us must get involved if we hope to save America.  Passivity is a luxury we can no longer afford.  Here are ten practical ways you can make a BIG difference:

1. Put on the Armor of God and Pray

Make a deliberate decision to put each piece of Armor on and enter the spiritual battle every day through prayer. Ask God to direct your prayers and show you the most urgent issues to pray for that day. He will guide you as you submit to His authority.

2. Buycott

Support small businesses, products that are made in America and companies that are pro-America, pro-freedom and pro-Constitution.

3. Boycott

Stop spending your hard earned dollars with woke companies that push cancel culture and support Marxist organizations like BLM and Antifa.

4. Get Involved in Your Local School System

Do you know what your children/ grandchildren are being taught in school?  Teachers have our children 7-8 hours per day. It’s utterly shocking what our children are being taught in the taxpayer-funded public schools: the LGBTQ agenda, Critical Race Theory, white shaming, disdain for our American history and so on.  Request to review the curriculum for classes. Speak out against teachings that go against your values and beliefs. The godless left want to indoctrinate and shape the way the next generation thinks and teach them to hate America, hate our history and even to hate their own skin color! Parental involvement and awareness is crucial to stopping them.

5. Run for a Local Leadership Position

As we’ve observed recently, those on school boards, library boards, city council and electric/energy boards  hold a great deal of power. If you want to help your children and shape the education system, run for your school board.  If you want to keep classic literary treasures from being banned, run for your library board.  If you are an engineer and scientifically minded and want to put safeguards in place to protect against attacks to our energy infrastructure, run for a seat on your local electric/energy board. Running for office may sound scary, but think about who holds those positions right now. Chances are pretty high you are far more competent.

6. Prepare your Home with Survival Essentials

Store extra food, water, pet supplies, medications, first aid essentials and other survival items so you can think rationally and be a source of calm help to others if an emergency situation arises.

7. SPEAK UP!

Exercise your First Amendment rights. Stand up and speak out for what is right whenever and wherever possible. Over this past year and a half, I’ve come to the place where I really don’t care what other people think of me. I only care what God thinks and that I am doing what He has called me to do.  He calls each of us to be a voice for the voiceless and vulnerable, the hurting and downtrodden and not to tip toe around the tyrannical left who bully and intimidate. The only way to effectively deal with a bully is to courageously stand up to him. Again, II Timothy 1:7, God gave you His armor and He does not give you the Spirit of fear. Ungodly fear is straight up, 100% demonic. When fear grips you, rebuke that demonic presence and claim the Spirit’s power, love and a sound mind in the name of Jesus.

8. Call Your Representatives

Learn who they are. Study their voting records. Tell them how you want them to vote on upcoming issues. They work for us so urge them to support pro-America, pro-Constitution, pro-God legislation. Research candidates for upcoming elections and vote for those who most closely represent your values and beliefs.

9. Read America’s Founding Documents

So many Americans have never read the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. Buy a book that contains our founding documents: the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights. Read and study them with you family. Pass along that knowledge to the next generation. “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”  Winston Churchill

10. Get Involved in  a Local, Grassroots Group

There is a groundswell of like-minded Patriots rising up across the United States. There is likely such a group in your area. Joining them will encourage, motivate and empower you to make a difference as you find yourself surrounded by other passionate, America-loving individuals.

As you can see from this list, everyone can do something. Start in your home with prayer, read America’s founding documents with your family and contact your state and local representatives. Then, work your way out to your community and, if you feel called, run for a city or state office. Where God guides, He provides. If He has called you to run for a leadership role, He will equip you with everything you need to make a powerful difference in that position! United we stand for righteous values and a Godly country we can preserve for the next generation.

This is our hill to die on.
