Shortly after the midpoint of the Great Tribulation, the False Prophet and the Anti-Christ compel everyone to receive the mark of the Beast on their right hand or forehead. This raises two questions about the mark: 1. The number 666 represents the name of the Beast who is a man, says Revelation 13:18. It is also the number of the Satanic Trinity (God’s number is 777, the number of completion). So the first question is what is the name of the man represented by 666? 2. The second question pertains to the administration of the number to the whole world. How will the number be administered and what will compel people all over the world to accept it?

Let’s tackle the first question. Who is the Anti-Christ? What is his name? The Bible indicates he is a man, not a woman (Revelation 13:18). In the Greek language of the New Testament, letters of the Greek alphabet also represented numbers. They did not have a separate alphabet of letters and a separate set of numbers like we do in the Western world. Below is a listing of all 24 Greek letters (plus 3 numeric only letters), the English equivalent, and their corresponding numbers:

As you can see, the combination of letters to total 666 is almost endless. It would be very difficult to decipher the name of the Anti-Christ by using the letter equivalents of 666. Some of the various names which add up to 666 suggested over the years include:

1. Nero Caesar
2. Kaiser
3. Hitler

Although most 1^st century Christians believed 666 stood for Nero, we simply don’t know. The possibilities are endless. We will know at the start of the Great Tribulation.

Question number 2 is how will the mark of the Beast be administered to the whole world? One word: FEAR! Just like the pandemic COVID19 has created worldwide fear and panic and caused people to claw and scratch to be vaccinated, so fear will be the primary motivation for receiving the mark of the Beast. Could the COVID19 vaccine passport be the mark of the beast? Possibly but I believe it will be administered in the form of an invisible laser tattoo on your right hand or forehead. The tattoo will be a bar code capable of being read by a bar code reader. The bar code tattoo will have all your vital information: health, financial, employment, family, etc. An invisible laser bar code tattoo would have the advantage that it would eliminate identity theft, lost or stolen credit cards, all cash or checks, overdrafts, and much paperwork As Revelation 13:17 says, some will have the very name of the Anti-Christ tattooed on them. The bar code permits those who have it to buy or sell products or services. Without the mark it will be difficult to survive during the Great Tribulation.

Finally, to receive the mark of the Beast is to receive his OWNERSHIP. In the Bible to name something or someone is to own that person or thing. That’s why Adam named all the creatures in the garden, why God changed Abram and Sarai’s names to Abraham and Sarah, why the Angel of the Lord changed Jacob’s name to Israel, why Jesus changed the name of Simon to Peter.  Even today, parents name their babies not only to give them a name but to own them as their own. The receiving of the mark of the Beast is his brand mark on you and his ownership of you!
