Irv and I recently took a road trip to Kentucky where we visited the Creation Museum in Petersburg and the Ark Encounter in Williamstown. Both are sponsored by the Answers in Genesis ministry which is led by CEO and founder Kenneth Ham. Ken is an Australian Christian fundamentalist, young earth creation apologist, and he lives in the United States. Ken Ham’s stated goal is to help and encourage Bible-believing Christians to know how to defend biblical creation. Both attractions present the salvation message and evidence that throughout God’s Word points to salvation through Jesus Christ.
This was a long anticipated as well as outstanding inspirational experience. Irv and I are sign readers. With every turn through the Ark and Creation Museums, we entered a new grouping of exhibits with multiple signs to read. I couldn't read them fast enough, so I took a lot of pictures of signs to read later. So much to read. So little time. We had a lot of ground to cover, and we had to keep moving. In the gift store, I was able to buy a book entitled, Ark Signs That Teach a Flood of Answers.1 Perfect. I even bought some additional copies for souvenirs.
Ultimately it all comes down to worldview and interpretation of the evidence. Creationism and Evolution are mutually exclusive worldviews. One believes God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) One does not believe God exists. Creationists and evolutionists study the same evidence. They study the same rocks, the same fossils, and the same world. Yet they reach different conclusions due to differing worldviews. The evolutionary worldview looks at rock layers and interprets them as the result of a slow and gradual process over the course of millions and millions of years. The biblical worldview looks at the same rock layers and sees overwhelming evidence that they were rapidly laid down during the year-long global flood described in Genesis.2 There is scientific geological evidence of a worldwide flood yet evolutionists claim there is none. Their presumption that there is no God prevents logical discovery of God’s truth. There are, in fact, also over 200 legends of an ancient global flood that have been discovered around the world.3
Evolutionists support a “millions and millions of years” theory of how the Grand Canyon was formed by the Colorado River through a slow and gradual process. But creation scientists have observed many canyons that have been formed by large amounts of water in days rather than eons. An example of this is the Engineers Canyon which is approximately 1/40 the size of the Grand Canyon and nicknamed the “Little Grand Canyon.” It is a 100 foot gorge which was cut out by a hot water and volcanic ash mud flow in a single day on March 19, 1982.4
The Ice Age gives evidence of a global flood also. Repercussions of the catastrophic Flood affected the earth for many decades and plunged the earth into the Ice Age. According to the Creation/Flood model, the effects of the flood lasted many years and brought about the earth’s single Ice Age. It would have peaked and diminished within a few hundred years. The biblical worldview supports one Ice Age as a result of the Flood while the leading secular model holds that there were up to four major Ice Ages, each with advancing and retreating glaciers.5
I encourage you to check out both the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter online. There are many informational videos including one is a debate between Ken Ham (Answers in Genesis) and Bill Nye, the Science Guy (an atheist). Be sure to plan a trip to Kentucky to visit these two outstanding attractions. You will be truly amazed, impressed, encouraged, and blessed.
